This design is inspired by the work and patterns of William Morris. These two speices are among the most endangered arable plants in Britain but have great cultural interest. The corncockle has been part of our landscape since the Iron Age but is now near extinction, and the Adonis was named by Linnaeus for the Adonis rites of death and rebirth in Mesopotamia and Ancient Greece.
