Bohinj in the Julian Alps of Slovenia will celebrate its 9th International Wildflower Festival this year and will run from May 23rd until June 7th 2015. There is a full range of activities, concerts, botanical walks, culinary treats and exhibitions. There will also be a third wildflower festival in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria which will run from the 20 to the 28th of June. Again there will be a wide range of botanical and cultural activities from workshop and walks to food and music. The wildflower festivals are run by dedicated staff and volunteers who give lots of their time to celebrate the beauty of these places and to try and bring economic benefit to the communities who live there. They are remarkable places and well worth visiting and learning more about their nature, history and present day cultural activities.
